Leadership Maturity Framework

Maps how adults evolve in how they make meaning – from rule-following to systems-aware to self-transforming. The more we understand, the more we have choice.

With the world becoming increasingly complex and uncertain, we need a different type of leadership if we truly want to not just survive but operate wisely both for today’s sake and that of future generations. As such, we can’t just rely on learning horizontally and acquiring new frameworks or even new buzzwords. It’s not the ‘what’ of radical candour that counts, it’s the ‘how’, for example. For this, we need vertical development, often referred to as leadership maturity development.

Leadership maturity means exploring and understanding how we make sense of the world and our experiences in it. We go deep into our beliefs and stories to see how we impact the world around us as well as what relationship we have with the ego. In short, we explore the human condition in order to grow up as adults and mature as leaders.

The framework itself has been developed over decades by various psychologists starting with some of the work on child development initially done by Jean Piaget. More recent psychologists who have built on the framework for adults include names such as Joe Loevinger, Robert Kegan, Suzanne Cook-Greuter, Ken Wilber and more. This framework, which you can complete as a sentence-completion assessment, gives the foundation for tailoring your personalised growth plan based on what you want to achieve and move towards to. This is more than just another test and another programme, this is an expedition of self-discovery so that you can become your unique self, beyond social expectations, and therefore a wiser leader in all aspects of your life.
